Interview with senior Paul Zelenski by: Kelly Manion and Alex Vessels
Do you remember those sleepovers when you were a kid? Sure they were fun and all but what always ended up happening by 2:00 a.m., you and all your girls got dressed in your finest PJs to meet up with the pre-teens down the street for a late night rendezvous. Now that you're older only one thing has changed when you hang out with your girls you have jobs and can pay for a stripper. But where can you find a good stripper in the Burg? Well we didnt find an underground ring but we did find a former JMU G-stringer whose ass some of you might recognize that was willing to divulge ass shakin secrets.
Turf: Tell us a little bit about the man behind the G-string.
Paul : I am a senior at JMU but Im not graduating until December with a B.S. in exercise science. I am originally from Wallingford, CT.
T: When did you first consider the idea of becoming a stripper? How did the whole thing come about?
P: Last spring one of my friends said he knew some girls who wanted someone to strip for their friends birthday. I told him I would do it and he arranged the whole thing. It was supposed to be a one-time thing but word got round and more opportunities came out of it. I was really nervous for weeks leading up to my first job but when the night came, I drank a bottle of tequila before I got to the party and everything went pretty smooth from there. As far as payment goes, it depends on who it is for. Ill charge more at home because the women are older with jobs and they are willing to shell out more. Ill make less at school but the clientele is more enjoyable so I dont mind. Either way, after a good weekend I can make $200-$300.
T: What kind of places did you strip at and in front of who?
P: Sororities? For bachelorette or birthday parties? Its usually at someones house and the event is usually a birthday or bachelorette party. At home its usually for women in their 30s but at school its usually a sorority function or a birthday.
T: What kinds of reactions did you get from the women (and men, maybe) you stripped for?
P: It's actually pretty wild. The first time I did it I had no idea what I was getting myself into. The girls were acting more like rowdy frat boys. Most of the time I dont even get to strip because my clothes end up getting ripped off five minutes after I walk in the door and I get showered with whip cream or other crazy things. I think I have more fun than they do. The only bad part is that some incriminating photos have surfaced so my political career is shot.
T: What do your friends have to say about your stripping? Your family? (if you told them)
P: My friends from JMU give me a hard time because of the fact that I own a G-string. They are all from down south and I guess they're a little conservative. I have no shame though so I dont care. My friends from home were actually visiting once when I stripped for a sorority and after they saw what happens they said they would do it in a heartbeat. As far as my parents go, as long as I don't ask them for money they dont care what I do; as long as I'm not doing anything illegal.
T: You look pretty buff. Do you have a specific exercise regimen or eat a particular diet that allows you to maintain your physique? Did you do so for the stripping or for other reasons?
P: Bodybuilding has been a hobby of mine since I was 14 so I am really into my diet and exercise routine. I eat 5-7 meals a day at 300-500 calories a piece, lift five days a week and do at least three days of cardio. I want to be a personal trainer in either Miami or Manhattan when I graduate so I basically have to keep this routine up regardless of the stripping.
T: Why did you stop stripping, and do you think you will ever take it up again in the future?
P: I had to stop because I usually put on a little weight in the winter and I havent taken as much off yet as I need to. I would definitely do it again, probably this summer at some point. I want to buy a car and its an easy way to pay the bills.
T: It's time for the definitive Turf question. What's on your stripper & personal mix tape?
P: Amber- Sexual
Ginuwine - Pony
Prince- Kiss
DJ Boom Boom- (Its some techno song about oral sex but I dont know the
exact name)
Sisqo- Tha Thong Song
Marvin Gaye- Lets Get It On
T: Where exactly did you purchase the G-string?
P: Pamelas secret. My roommates still wont let me hear the end of it.
T: Whats your funniest or wildest stripping story?
P: I did a birthday party and I guess I had a little too much to drink before I got there. I ended up blacking out and I woke up the next day with dollar bills covered in peanut butter and chocolate sauce all over me. Another story involves an apple pie but I dont even know how to begin describing that one. I dont know why this food thing is such a recurring theme.
T: Whats your favorite JMU bar?
P: I really dont like any of them. I like places where everyone is acting like a complete maniac and not worrying about what other people are thinking of them. The people at the bars around here are way too image conscious for me.
T: Which body part do you get the most compliments on?
P: It depends on how drunk everyone is.T: Who would you like to beat up at JMU?
P: About 90% of the frat guys I know.
T: Tupac or Biggie?
P: Definitely Biggie.
T: Would you rather give a lap dance to every person in one of your classes (guys and girls and professor) OR give lap dances to the female residents of a nursing home?
P: Alex, you are a sick, sick man. Party boy from Jackass wouldnt even go there.
